Adult magazine unveils virtual rabbit head-shaped island populated with female avatars and merchandise.
Playboy Enterprises, Inc. slipped into the virtual world known as Second Life Tuesday with the launch of Playboy Island.
The adult entertainment company said it is offering Second Life residents a taste of the Playboy lifestyle on a rabbit head-shaped island, which houses a retail store and will feature events and social opportunities.
The virtual Playboy store includes merchandise from PlayboyStore.com and ShoptheBunny.com, and is staffed by female avatar employees wearing Playboy-branded apparel or Playboy Bunny costumes.

Oy vey, I wonder what The Girls Next Door - Holly, Bridget and Kendra - will wear in virtual reality?

Pretty much nailed it. Second life has become the social dress-up game.
It comes fairly close to Neal's Snowcrash 'metaverse' concept, unfortunately, the tools are unwieldy and difficult to master and more importantly, costs real money to upload custom content for.

mmmm, i wonder whether you can leave the store with one of the bunnies!

I suspect this Playboy island will find things more difficult than they expect. SL is full of other options for adult entertainment. There are plenty of places selling the bunny costumes so even that is not unique.
And for me... I would just keep wondering if the bunny girl talking to me is actually being played by a dude.
